Female Eclectus Parrot

Bali Bird Park 2019 - Female Eclectus parrot. Her head, chest, and back are covered in rich scarlet feathers. She has bright blue feathers running along the bend of her wings and around her neck.Her strong beak is a solid, dark black color.

Bright Red for Safety: You might think bright red feathers would make her easy for predators to see. However, when she sits inside her dark tree-hollow nest, the red color actually blends into the shadows, helping her hide while she guards her eggs!
