Male Eclectus Parrots
Description
Bali Bird Park 2019 - Male Eclectus parrots - The male is covered in emerald green feathers. Its upper beak is a bright orange-yellow color. It has bright red and blue feathers hidden under its wings. Females look completely different with bright red and purple feathers. For a long time, people thought the males and females were two different types of birds! They live in the rainforests of the Solomon Islands, New Guinea, and northeastern Australia. In the wild, they eat a lot of fruit, wild figs, nuts, and flower buds. They are highly intelligent and are excellent at mimicking human speech and sounds.
